About New Malden Vets

New Malden Vets is a modern, well equipped small animal practice located in the centre of New Malden. We treat cats, dogs and small pets.

As owners ourselves we know that our pets are part of the family, and how important it is to be involved in their care and well-being. Our aim is to work with you to provide high quality care, treatment and vet advice, whether your pet needs major surgery or a routine but important checkup and vaccination.

The practice is managed by Clinical Directors Victoria Weston and Elizabeth Starritt, who have been with the practice for many years. They took charge of the business in 2016. They are helped by experienced assistant vets and dedicated veterinary nurses, plus a support team on reception. A lot of staff members have been with the practice for many years, which means we get to know our clients well, and familiar staff care for our patients from puppy and kittenhood through to old age. Our team are encouraged in their career development and attend courses to keep them up to date. We are a veterinary nurse training centre.

New Malden Vets is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme, which means:

  • our clinic has been inspected by the college and approved to a high standard
  • our staff are well trained
  • our equipment is safe and up to date

We are the only vets in New Malden to be accredited, and are proud of this achievement.

The practice was refurbished in 2012, and shortly afterwards was awarded a Gold Standard ‘Cat Friendly Clinic‘ status, the first clinic in Surrey to be accredited.

We offer a full range of clinical and diagnostic services.

Practice History

The practice was started by Peter Hope in 1972. He was joined by John Davies and the practice became known as Hope and Davies.

Peter and John completely extended the practice in 1989. The premises were upgraded to give three consulting rooms, two wards and an isolation area for infectious cases, a dedicated operating theatre, preparation areas, offices and a nurses flat. See our practice tour

Margo Scott joined the practice in 1984 and Jackie Cox in 1995. Margo and Jackie took over the practice when Peter and John retired in 2003. The practice was renamed New Malden Vets in 2008.

Victoria Weston and Elizabeth Starritt joined the practice in 2003 and 2009 respectively. They took over as Clinical Directors in June 2016, when Margo retired and Jackie moved to Derbyshire to be closer to her family.

Victoria and Elizabeth are continuing the practices ethos of providing a comprehensive caring service for the pet-owning community of New Malden and the surrounding area.

In 2015 New Malden Vets joined the Independent Vetcare Group.

Independent Vetcare is a group of leading veterinary practices across the UK who have come together to pool resources, skills and knowledge. We’re run by and for vets, so clinical excellence drives our business. Pet and client needs will always come first because every practice in our group is run by its local veterinary team.
